New Premium Approach: Berentzen Group to invest in a Factory-Type Farmyard Distillery at its Head Offices in Haselünne

Haselünne, May 16, 2017 – The Berentzen-Gruppe Aktiengesellschaft (ISIN: DE0005201602), which is publicly listed in the regulated market (General Standard) of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, is investing in innovation for a second time. The Berentzen Hof (farmyard) head offices at their traditional location in Haselünne are to get a new "core" over the next few weeks in the form of the "Berentzen Hof Destillerie Haselünne". From summer in particular, the company is to produce a completely new premium product line — a so-called "crafted" premium grain schnapps. "Since its formation nearly 260 years ago, the Berentzen company has been synonymous for premium-quality German schnapps. We want to reflect on our roots and start a trend in quality and innovation with our new premium products created at the Berentzen Hof Distillery," explained Frank Schübel, executive board spokesman of the Berentzen Group.

"Crafted" - in the industry, this word is synonymous for a very young trend in sophisticated and hand-crafted products. And this is precisely where the Berentzen Hof Distillery's idea begins. The new premium grain schnapps with the brand-name Berentzen Korn2Korn is made from carefully-selected organically-grown wheat combined with organically-grown rye and malted barley together with especially soft water from the company's own St. Ansgari spring in Haselünne. The schnapps is deliberately distilled slowly in small production runs in accordance with the highest craftsman-like standards under the supervision of experienced master distiller Andreas Büdenbender.

As the first German spirits producer with its own new "crafted" schnapps family, Berentzen is positioning itself in the dynamically-growing premium spirit market segment with this new schnapps. The Korn2Korn premium corn schnapps will be sold in shops this summer for EUR 29.99 a bottle and a barrel-matured premium schnapps will follow by summer 2019.

At the same time, the Berentzen Group will continue to further expand its Berentzen Hof as an adventure park. Over 30,000 visitors already come to see its traditional farmyard, the courtyard shop and its cafe/restaurant facilities every year. "The new Farmyard Distillery means that our traditional location in Haselünne will now have another, centrally-located crowd-puller," executive board spokesman Frank Schübel said. At the Distillery, visitors can see live and up close how products are made at this traditional producer's plant.

Training courses and schnapps seminars with master distiller Andreas Büdenbender and much more are also planned.
