Frequently Asked Questions

Is there an application deadline?

There is no official application deadline. That being said, the sooner, the better.

How do I apply?

You can apply for an apprenticeship or internship right here in our jobs portal. If you don’t find something here that is right for you, you can also proactively submit an application for another position. Naturally, you can also send us a traditional application dossier by regular mail.

How important are school grades?

We attach great importance to the motivation and personality of our apprentices. Nevertheless, certain grades are naturally important to us, depending on the apprenticeship occupation.

How does the application process go?

If we take an interest in your application, we will invite you to a personal interview that will take around 30 minutes. Depending on the apprenticeship occupation, we might also ask you to take an aptitude test beforehand.

How can I prepare myself for the personal interview?

Once you are invited for a personal interview, you have already surmounted the first hurdle. The next step is good preparation. The best way to start is to learn about the Berentzen Group on our website. Why would you like to work for us, exactly? And why would you like to undergo this particular apprenticeship?

But the most important thing in the personal interview is you. We would like to learn about you and your strengths and give you a chance to learn about us.

The personal interview also gives you the perfect opportunity to ask any questions you might still have.

How does the apprenticeship begin?

Your apprenticeship begins with a week-long introduction in Haselünne where you will meet the other new apprentices at our different locations. Besides hearing presentations about the company and our products, you will tour Berentzen Hof and our locations in Minden and Stadt-hagen. You can also expect other great highlights. The week concludes with a lovely evening barbecue attended by all current and former apprentices.

Who will advise me during the apprenticeship?

We have dedicated advisors in every department so that you will always have someone to advise you.

Can I do an internship in a foreign country?

We offer our apprentices the option of completing an internship in a foreign country, for which we provide both organizational and financial support.

Will I also be assigned to work in different locations during the apprenticeship?

Work at other locations depends on your apprenticeship occupation. For example, business ad-ministration apprentices at Minden and Grüneberg will be assigned to work in Haselünne for two weeks to become familiarized with the Human Resources, Accounting and Controlling Departments.

If you are interested in working at different locations, just ask your apprenticeship advisor about it.

How many hours a week will I work?

As a general rule, our apprentices work 38 or 40 hours a week, usually fixed hours but sometimes also in shifts, depending on the apprenticeship occupation.

How much vacation will I get?

Our apprentices get 30 days of vacation per year, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement. Our apprentices in Grüneberg get 27 days of vacation per year.

Will I be hired as a permanent employee after the apprenticeship?

Our shared goal is to hire our apprentices after they complete their apprenticeship, provided that a suitable position is available. You can also continue to train or attend a university after the apprenticeship. For example, we regularly offer our Training. Plus programme after the apprenticeship, in which you will be trained to become a business administrator (male/female/non-binary gender). This program also includes an instructor qualification certificate and an internship in a foreign country.
